Making your own resource

screenshot of Mi/X
What you gonna do if there is no resource handy? I sent my laptop back to Apple for repairement, but I still need a X window server for me to add more new nodes to the cluster in our lab. Instead of getting a working X window from the lab, I used a Macintosh Performa 6214CD with MacOS 8.1 and MI/X server and made that worked pretty well! I even used it as a Chinese text terminal! Right now I have 89 nodes on this cluster though 8 of them are waiting for DDR RAM modules.

By the way, this command is really important!

$ /Developer/Tools/SetFile -t "PICT" -c "ttxt" FILE
This is just because the desktop screenshot taken on MacOS was in SimpleText picture format, and Fetch can't transfer file type to UCI mail server. (I believe that if you rename the FILE to FILE.pict, Preview.app might be still willing to read it.) Once you change the file type, you can just use Preview, Photoshop to process it.
